Supporting Big Feelings: What We Shared at Our Coffee Morning
Supporting Big Feelings: A Glimpse into Our Recent Coffee Morning
At the Swedish International School of Geneva, we believe in the power of slowing down to connect on what truly matters in early childhood. During our recent Coffee Morning, we explored the complex world of children’s emotions and how adults can provide the essential support they need. From birth to age six, a child’s brain undergoes rapid development, moving from sensory exploration to the emergence of complex social and emotional skills. Because the logical part of a young brain is still maturing, children often experience "big reactions" that they cannot manage alone. We discussed the vital role of co-regulation, where calm, consistent adults help children find their balance and build a sense of security. By offering children the language for their emotions and acknowledging their feelings, we help them build lifelong emotional awareness. Whether at home or at school, a shared, supportive approach ensures that every child feels understood as they navigate their growing world.

Monsters on the Rugby Pitch: Bringing Swedish Sustainability to Geneva
Last Friday, the SISOG preschool turned the Spring Equinox and our annual Earth Day celebration into a journey of discovery. Inspired by the Swedish "Sopsamlarmonster" (Waste Collection Monsters), our students set out to care for the local rugby pitch.
In Sweden, these friendly characters help children understand the importance of sustainability through imagination and storytelling. By bringing this tradition to Geneva, we continue to nurture the "Swedishness" that defines our school. Our young learners took the initiative to gather recycled materials for our resident monster, ensuring he had a full stomach before his contents were carefully sorted into the school bins.
Smoothing the Path: SISOG’s Red Thread Transitions

SISOG Primary is Officially a Certified "Generation Pep School" 2026
We are thrilled to share that the Swedish International School of Geneva (SISOG) has officially been granted the Generation Pep Certification 2026. This prestigious recognition, initiated by the Swedish Crown Princess Couple, follows two years of dedicated work to integrate physical health and active learning into our daily routines.
As a leading Geneva primary school, we believe that physical vitality is the "fuel" for academic success. By incorporating Brain Breaks, Active Recess, and pedagogical meals, we ensure that outside physical education and movement are not just scheduled lessons, but a natural part of every child’s day. This certification validates our mission to nurture students who are not only high achievers but also healthy, curious, and lifelong learners.
