More Than Just a Show: Celebrating "The Heart of Learning" at SISOG

This winter, the halls of the Swedish International School of Geneva (SISOG) were filled with a different kind of magic. As our winter all-school show took place on February 14th, our SISOG Sings choir began the morning perfectly with a beautiful rendition of “V for Valentine,” setting the tone for our 2026 Winter Musical, The Heart of Learning. At SISOG, we believe that everything is a learning experience. The Heart of Learning wasn't just in the final applause; it was in the weeks of preparation where students learned the discipline of lining up, the focus required to remember exactly where to stand, and the resilience needed to handle a high pressure costume change in the wings! These "behind the scenes" moments are where character and confidence are built.

This production was a true reflection of our school’s "Red Thread," with every single class from our 1 year olds to our 8P students taking the stage. Each class chose a song to prepare which meant something to them and tied to the theme of the show. Our preschool classes were a vital part of the magic. From our toddlers to our 4 year olds, the experience was designed to be age appropriate and deeply meaningful, allowing even our youngest to shine. It is a cherished SISOG tradition: our "littles" watch with wide eyes as the Upper Primary students take the lead as narrators, seeing the path that lies ahead of them and waiting for the day they too will stand at the microphone.

The stage came alive with incredible performances across the school. Our Primary students made a grand entrance to the classic “Dressed for Success” by the famous Swedish band Roxette—a wonderful nod to our school's Swedish roots that got everyone energized from the start. Later, our Lower Primary students charmed the audience with the multilingual sounds of “Polyglotte,” followed by the Middle Primary who moved us with their rendition of “Don’t Give Up,” perfectly echoing our focus on resilience. The Upper Primary then brought high energy and history to life with the classic “Sacré Charlemagne.” One of the absolute highlights was the "Interactive Heart" moment, where our 4P to 8P students led the entire room through a full on line dance to the country hit “Big Big Feelings,” turning the morning into a high energy celebration of emotional intelligence and community.

A True Team Effort

A production of this scale is only possible through the combined energy and support of our whole school community:

  • Our PTA: Thank you for organizing such a wonderful party! Your hard work behind the scenes turned a school performance into a true community celebration.

  • Our Dedicated Teachers: From jumping in on the guitar and choosing these meaningful songs to translating scripts and supporting students through those quick changes, your commitment is what makes SISOG so special.

  • Our Supportive Parents: Thank you for your endless help with costumes and for your dedication at home. We know many of you played the show music on repeat to help the students learn their songs! The students looked and sounded fantastic, and your contribution brought Roxette’s “Dressed for Success” theme to life.

The show reminded us that at SISOG, the "Heart of Learning" is found in our community, our mistakes, and the journey we take together from the first steps in preschool to the final bow in 8P.
