SISOG Values Capstone Project

Last week, our Upper Primary class brought learning to life by hosting a wonderful theme capstone project for Middle Primary, celebrating and exploring our school’s five core values: Equality, Empathy, Love of Learning, Community, and Commitment.

Inspired by the Swedish primary curriculum, where värdegrund (shared values), active inquiry, and cross-age learning play an important role, the afternoon was a beautiful example of meaningful, student-led learning: thoughtfully planned, engaging, and rooted in genuine connections between students.

After spending two weeks preparing and personally delivering invitations and tickets to every Middle Primary student and teacher, the Kiruna class was ready to welcome their special guests into the classroom!

The afternoon was filled with curiosity, creativity, and plenty of opportunities to learn together:

Puppet Theatre & Our Core Values

Kiruna kicked things off with an adorable puppet show featuring two versions of The Three Little Pigs, complete with cardboard houses, pink pigs, and two very different wolves! Following the performance, Kiruna students guided a discussion with their younger guests, exploring which of our SISOG core values each wolf demonstrated—and which ones were missing.

Four Interactive Sensory Stations

Middle Primary students divided into four groups and rotated through hands-on stations, each exploring a different characteristic of the wolf:

👃 Smell: Investigating mystery jars filled with different scents, including coffee, vinegar, and perfume.

👂 Hearing: Listening carefully to a variety of sounds and guessing where they came from.

👁️ Sight: Searching for cleverly camouflaged animals hidden within images.

📏 Scale: Discovering just how big a wolf really is by comparing its actual size and paw prints with their own bodies and hands.

A Sweet Ending to a Wonderful Afternoon

To finish the experience, Kiruna students treated their guests to glasses of sirop. With warm eye contact and a cheerful cheers shared together, it was a lovely reminder that sometimes the smallest gestures create the most meaningful moments of connection.

A huge bravo to Kiruna!

Through creativity, collaboration, and thoughtful leadership, they created an experience that went far beyond the classroom. Middle Primary not only learned more about wolves and our five core values, but also enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of discovery, laughter, and connection.

A beautiful example of students learning with and from one another!
